"The nuclear family is the ideal family structure" Evaluate this statement. In the following essay I will evaluate the statement "the nuclear family is the ideal family structure." We will look at the good points of a nuclear family and the bad points. A nuclear family is a household where there are two parents and two kids, without any other members like a granddad, aunt etc. An argument for having a nuclear family is that two parents usually are more supportive than one. They provide a more secure and supportive environment for the child. A functionalist looks at how the "family" helps the society. Without a family there would be no race of humans. It provides reproduction and sexual activity. This benefits the individuals by carrying on the family, also it benefits for society because the family regulates sexual activity, and it keeps jealousy and conflict to a minimum for our culture...
