Why was there so much interest in the white chapel murders? In 1888 White chapel experienced a number of gruesome and horrific attacks committed by "Jack The Ripper". Information of these murders did not only travel the country but the world. There are many reasons why these murders received such interest from all different types of people, these reasons include... The Press, the press reported on the murders of "Jack the ripper" in great detail and exadurated certain events or scenes of these murders. People reading these newspapers were shocked but intrigued in these murders as they were interested in sex, murder and the complete conundrum that surrounded White chapel murders. Even today, it can be shown that sex and murder sells, as it did in 1888. This was evidently shown as the sales of newspapers increased rapidly.
