Uncertain Masculinities: Is the Modern World Feminising Men? Hypothesis Until recently, a man's life was largely charted for him. His work, his role in the home and society, even his appearance and sexuality were arguably constructed for him. However, we live in a world, which increasingly favours "Feminine" characteristics. Forceful, "macho" management styles are out of favour at work and men are encouraged to express their feelings and be concerned about their appearance. As a young woman I aim to investigate whether contemporary society is in a sense "feminising" adolescent males.
