Isolated nuclear families are families that do not depend on kinship or the extended family (aunts, uncles, grandparents etc). By modern societies, we mean the industrialized society. Sociologists that agree with the statement that 'the isolated nuclear family is the dominant form in modern societies' are- Talcott Parsons, William Goode, Michael Young & Peter Willmott and Eugene Litwak.
