SOCIAL STRATIFICATION - ETHNICITY, GENDER AND CLASS I have decided to write about differences between black and white people and how these differences find meaning within the educational system. The education system does not cater to the needs of non-white students and actually acts as a divisive institution. Education is a topic relevant to me as I attempt to apply the definition black "working class" to my family. I had never really seen much difference in the behaviour or economic conditions between my family and that of my neighbour, who would described as white working class, except when it came to education. Within the educational system, I was left to fall by the wayside because I had some difficulties that prevented me from being self-sufficient at school; I was ignored.
