Jagdeep Bhullar 11G2 1.11.2002 Essay On "Your Shoes" & "The Parvenue" In this introduction I'll be comparing the two stories that we have read. These two stories are "Your Shoes" which was written by Michele Roberts and "The Parvenue" by Mary Shelley. "Your Shoes" was written in the late 20th Century whereas "The Parvenue" was written in 19th Century. Despite the fact that these two stories were written 150 years apart they are very similar in many ways. Mary Shelley is also known famously when she wrote Frankenstein. "Your Shoes" is about a mother's daughter who has ran away whereas "The Parvenue" is about a working class lady who married an upper class man and they go through lots of problems. In "Your Shoes" the mother is very sad, miserable and emotional, similarily in "The Parvenue" the narrator is also very emotional.
