My talk is about lowering the drinking age of alcohol... I think the legal drinking age should be lowered from 18 to about 14 or 15 years of age so that young adults could drink in controlled environments such as restaurants, taverns, pubs and even school. In these situations responsible drinking could be taught through role modelling and educational programs. Mature and sensible drinking behaviour is more likely to be expected. Although the legal age for purchasing alcohol is 18 years of age, a majority of students under this age consume alcohol but in an irresponsible manner. This is because drinking by these people is seen as a "badge of rebellion against authority" and a symbol of "adulthood." If the age limit was lowered there would be less drunk people on the streets because there wouldn't be a need to show off anymore to their friends and people around them. They...
