Hypothesis My aim is investigate the extent to which men and women share similar experiences within the domestic and employment spheres. By this I mean how domestic labour is divided within the household and how it is affected by work. The role of the woman in the house has changed over the past 30 years. In the 1970's it was considered proper for the women to look after the home while the husband was the breadwinner. It has just been in the past 10 years or so that sociologists have proposed the possibility that a New Man has emerged. I have chosen this topic because it has been a popular issue in the public eye. My hypothesis is that women do more domestic work than men, even if they are employed. They take on a Triple Shift.
