Income poverty is the cause and consequence of social exclusion. Income poverty seems to be the cause and consequence of people being excluded in Britain's society. This is mainly because of low paid jobs are making it harder for people to come out of the 'poverty trap'. It is generally accepted that poverty is concerned with a lack of possessions, or the ability to be socially active, which in some sense is considered to be 'normal' or 'essential' in society today.What is considered 'normal' depends on the society in which the peson lives in. So, for example, a widely accepted indicator of third world poverty is the numbers of people living on less than £1 per day, on the grounds that people on such incomes are literally in danger of starving to death.
