How do the holiday brochures "Club 18-30" and "Thomas Cook's Forever Young" reflect important social and cultural features of British society? According to the Oxford English dictionary, the word 'holiday' is defined as "an extended period of recreation especially spent away from home; break from work or school." In today's society though, the word 'holiday' can mean anything from a simple day off work or school to a round the world exploration. A generation ago, people were content with family holidays by the seaside in resorts such as Blackpool or Brighton. Today's generation however, seem more satisfied with holidays abroad where sun, sea, sand and sex are readily available. Although the term 'class' is one of the most frequently used concepts in sociology, there is no clear agreement about how the notion should best be defined.
