In this essay I will be looking at and discussing the view of how the distribution of domestic tasks between husband and wife has become equal. I will be looking at it trough item A, from the Guardian (10 March 2000) and item B which is adapted by M. Jones (1997). I will also be using statistics and information from sociological books. In the 1950's the routine of childcare and housekeeping were seen as tasks which should be undertaken by women. Of course, in some families life was structured in a different way. The division of labour (man as breadwinner, women as child carer and homemaker) was, however, strongly supported by economic circumstances and the culture of the time. The phrase segregated conjugal roles was used by sociologists to indicate the way in which the contributions made by husband and wife to the running of the family were clearly different....
