Laura Keren Question 1 Describe popular culture in Britain at the begging of the 1960s The popular culture is the culture of the mass population i.e. working class. At the very beginning of the 60s everything was the same as at the end of the 50s. In the 50s there was no individuality in being a teenager, you were expected to dress modestly and just like your parents. Things didn't suddenly change, but were influenced slowly. The parents of the 1960's and generally older people reacted with a lot of hostility to the changing times in the 60's. Although change did happen the changes were different for different social classes, ages and also they varied in different places in the country. For instance in Liverpool they would be affected more by the American music because they are on a port and that kind of music is being shipped in the whole...
