GCSE COURSEWORK - EMPATHY THE HOME FRONT 29th December 1917 Dear Peter You have asked me to explain how England has changed over the last three years and how we feel about it. This is very difficult but I shall try. Attitudes towards women have changed a lot since the start of the war. Before, women would stay at home and do some housework or they would go out shopping. Now, however, nearly all women are going to work in munitions factories, doing dangerous jobs such as making shells and explosives. I am not happy about this because I still feel that these types of jobs should be left to the men. Gladys did not like the idea of working in a factory but over the past year or so she has got used to it. Now my younger daughter, Elizabeth, is also working for the local tram company. She is a conductor....
