"The culture of a society is the way of life of its members, the collection of ideas and habits which they learn, share and transmit from generation to generation" (Haralambos 2004 p.7) This is the how sociologists define culture. It refers to culture as the way of life of people in a society and indicates that it is passed down by the process of socialization. Culture involves simple matters, such as walking and eating to more complicated matters such as languages, values and norms. Many sociologists came up with different interpretation about how culture is formed. This essay will start by explaining how the father of Marxism, Karl Marx, interpreted culture and how he put his theory into one of the social institution, education.
