Cultural differences in Business Management according to Geert Hofstede The Hofstede analysis of Mexico is different from that of the United States. The original components of his analysis were Power Distance Index, Individualism, Masculinity, and Uncertainty Avoidance Index. The fifth and most modern dimension of his analysis is Long-term Orientation. The difference in the two countries' scores presents many prospective problems for United States managers working in Mexico. The first dimension, Power Distance Index, focuses on the degree of equality, or inequality, between people in the country's society. Next, Individualism concentrates on the degree the society reinforces individual or collective achievement and interpersonal relationships. The dimension of Masculinity focuses on the degree the society reinforces, or does not reinforce, the traditional masculine work role-model of male achievement, control and power.
