AS English (combined course) Assignment A: Analysing texts. The two texts that I will analyse, 'The Diary Of A Nobody' by George and Weedon Grossmith and 'The Secret Diary Of Adrian Mole Aged Thirteen and Three Quarters' written by Sue Townsend, are both diaries which are written in different centuries. Both texts are written in first person narrative style to reflect the author's personal views, values, opinions and attitudes. Both diaries are written for fictitious purposes, but also to reflect the stereotypical person of a certain class in the specific time setting. For example, Charles Pooter represents the conventional middle aged, working class Victorian gentleman of the 1880s. This can tell us a lot about the attitudes and morals of many people living in the dissimilar time periods.
