... Who or What is Responsible for the Royal Hunt of the Sun's Tragic Ending? There are many factors that are partly responsible for the tragic ending of the play. The question to be asked is what is most responsible for the tragic ending to the play? Is it Pizarro, the leader of the expedition, the Inca king, Atahuallpa, or any of the other characters in the play? Was it just the clash of cultures and values? Francisco Pizarro's character is a very complex one. He was born into a poor family and used to drive pigs with his father. This does not seem apparent at first when we hear him speak in metaphor and hear of him fighting in great wars.
