... The writings of Nicolas Barré " To establish the reign of Jesus Christ in every heart" and "to follow Him in all His ways", are the ultimate objectives of Nicolas Barré. He writes above all with the purpose of helping his readers to live in profound union with God, and to share this with others. In the Order of Minims, attracted by their care for the evangelisation of the disadvantaged, he had hoped to be quickly sent to the poor, to educate them the truths of the faith and to conceal to them the love with which God loves them. It was only after a long testing period that he was sent on a mission to the little village of Sotteville-Ies-Rouen in 1662. He would only put his thoughts in writing between 1669 and 1685. Some works were published a few years after his death, then again in 1876. A complete edition
