Many people believe it to be full of symbolism. (a) What might the three temptations symbolise? * Temptation 1 - Jesus did not make the stones into bread, because God had sent him into the desert to fast there. He would have been disobeying him if he had done this. Jesus also said: 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God' Food may be important but God is more so, and he would not disobey God. Food will not supply what people need for a meaningful life. The goals of certain things do not justify the means.
