... R.E Coursework Racism - Section A i) Racism has been and still is one of the biggest problems in the world. Due to racism, prejudice and discrimination which are often linked with racism, millions of people have had their lives ruined if not ended. Most of the people in the world today would like to see the end of racism, prejudice and discrimination. The 'Oxford Study Dictionary' describes racism as: 1. "Belief in the superiority of a particular race." 2. "Antagonism towards people of other races." When racism is put into practice and someone makes an unfair difference in the treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of religion, race or sex it is called 'discrimination.' Prejudice is when someone has a predetermined belief about someone of a different religion, race or sex that is not based on reason or an actual experience. It is also when someone displays unjust behaviour towards the individual
