Prejudice and Discrimination Prejudice is the act of prejudging someone or something, and usually means the feelings or opinions of intolerance and dislike which people have for others, based on little or no actual knowledge. Discrimination is when people are treated badly by others because of prejudice. E.g. To think that women are inferior to men is a prejudice known as sexism to then treat women badly because of this would be discrimination. Sometimes people are pre-judged because of their: * Prejudice can be about many different things: religion, race, colour, gender, sexuality, language, disability, age, social class etc. brought on by-grouping / scrapegoating / fear and stereotyping. * All prejudice and discrimination goes against the first two Articles of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights: Article 1: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
