I am suspicious of points of view which suggest that having a vital, rich, and optimal relationship with God means having a kind of romantic feeling about Him. Have you confronted that? I have felt uncomfortable with that idea because I'm not sure that it really is what the Bible has in mind. And I've been uncomfortable myself because, to be honest with you, my life is not characterized by a romance with God. Maybe your life is not characterized by a romance with God either, and you just might be tempted to feel just a little bit guilty about that fact. Why am I not more in love with Jesus? Why am I not more in love with His Word? And when you say more in love with Jesus, more in love with His word, what you are really talking about is an emotional quality to your relationship with...
