Guru Nanak was born in 1469 at a place called Talwandi in Northern India, now in Pakistan. He was born in a Hindu family an area deeply divided between Muslims and Hindus. Nanak was once sent to a school for boys and was expelled for what the teacher called rudeness. Another time his farther sent him to go and look after the cattle for him but when his farther left him and came back the cattle had eaten the entire weed that his father had grown. When Nanak was still a boy, his farther gave him some money and told him to go to a nearby town and to trade with it. "Do the best business you can," said Nanak's farther.
