R.S. GCSE COURSEWORK. EUTHANASIA. EU = well, and THANATOS = death. Therefore, euthanasia is ending someone's life deliberately, but for compassionate reasons. 1. EXPLAIN WHY CHRISTIANS BELIEVE IN THE SANCTITY OF LIFE (SACREDNESS). In Genesis 1:27, it says, "God created human beings, making them to be like himself." This shows that God is life, and he breathed life into man. Therefore, life is precious, and needs to be preserved. Also, Jesus Christ was God in human form. If God chose to make his only son in our form, he must feel our life is very special. Furthermore, he chose to let his only son die to save humans, and put them right with God, even though they commit sins. This shows, God's great love for us, and how he treasures every life. Another example of God treasuring every life is shown in Luke 12:6-7. This states, "Aren't five sparrows sold for two pennies....
