Consider the way the two poets illustrate the themes of prejudice and discrimination through the use of form, style and language The poems, "Telephone Conversation" by Wole Soyinka and "You will be hearing from us shortly" by "U A fanthorpe both allow the reader to explore prejudice and discrimination through their effective use of language, style and form. The poems use different ways of illustrating their points but both convey to the reader that discrimination is wrong. The poem "Telephone Conversation" centres around a coloured man in an intrinsically racist Britain attempting to find adequate accommodation. The repetitive use of the colour red, "red booth, red pillar box" implies that the poem is set in London. Red is associated with old London as well as being a symbol to represent anger. The use of the phrase "squelching tar" is not very pleasant or attractive and this suggests that London is...
