It is likely the Calvin did change religious practices more thoroughly but under the conditions at the time it was possibly easier for him to do so. Calvin realised it was the structure of the church that and the way it related to the community, this being the way in which he concentrated reform of the church. Luther on the other hand concentrated on reforming the abuses of the Catholic Church. Calvin changed the church in a variety of ways. Calvin wrote the Institutes of the Christian Religion part to prove that evangelical religion need not give rise to Anabaptism.
