In days gone by many people of all religions would believe that when two people are joined in matrimony that this should not be broken under any circumstances, this was true up to 19th century. But today divorce or separation is seen as something of the norm - it is not surprising to hear of a couple divorcing for many reasons. Recent statistics show that for every 360,000 marriages per year there are 185,000 divorce cases per year and that the probability of divorce is now around the 45% mark. These figures display that divorce in today's society is accepted. Many Christians still believe that what has been joined should not separate, and that these teachings are relevant in today's world.
