A) Describe Christian beliefs on divorce. (8 marks) There are many different types of Christians and they all have different views on divorce. Firstly there are Roman Catholics and their views on divorce is that they do not agree with it. That vows are made for life and that even a legal divorce wouldn't be acceptable. They say that marriage is a sacrament and cannot be broken so there won't be any remarriage. A marriage can be annulled. This is when a bishop agreed that the marriage never happened, never took place in the first place but this is very rare and difficult. Secondly the Church of England has two views on divorce. There first view on divorce is that they recognise civil divorces as valid. Their second view on divorce is new and it's that The General Synod (the Church Council) now will allow remarriage.
