Marriage Marriage is a ceremony hundreds of thousands of years old that is practiced all over the world. People marry for many reasons be it for love, companionship, money, or otherwise, and although the universal statement of marriage is the same throughout the world, the way that marriage ceremonies are conducted and the terms and conditions of the marriages differ throughout the world and throughout religion. Within Judaism, the wedding ceremonies are extremely unique. Traditionally the Jewish wedding starts with the signing of the marriage contract or ketubbah. The ketubbah is a document that describes the rights and obligations of the bride and groom. It is signed by the groom and then given to the bride for safekeeping.
