Marriage is regarded as a sacrament in Roman Catholic Church and also in some Churches of the Anglo-Catholic tradition. It is therefore an indissoluble bond. Another teaching is marriage is that marriage is a permanent relationship and can only be ended by death or annulment in very special circumstances; divorce is unacceptable. The vows said at a wedding back this up: "I (name) do take thee (name) to be my lawful wedded wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part" and "love and honour each other for life".
