Christianity: Describe Christian beliefs about marriage. One of Gods most wonderful gifts to man is marriage. Marriage was designed by God to be a permanent life long relationship. Marriage takes place in every religion. In certain religions, marriages are often arranged. However, Christianity is not one of these religions. Christians believe that you should choose your own partner, someone that you truly love and want to spend the rest of your life with. The idea of love is of great significance to Christian beliefs and teachings. There are many different types of love - eros, philos, storge and most importantly agape. Agape is an unconditional love, one that is vital to have in all marriages. Nowadays, approximately 50% of marriages result in divorce and in my opinion this is because there is a lack of agape love.
