These must be carefully clarified. The Oxford Dictionary defines euthanasia as the following : ' The act of causing somebody to die gently and without pain, especially when they are suffering from a painful, incurable disease.' ( from Greek eu = well/good and thanatos = death ) So euthanasia means literally a good death. Some people call euthanasia 'mercy killing'.
