Have a little read: ... Is Abortion Ever Justified? "Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by artificial or chemical means." Abortion is a very complex and emotive issue on which different people and different church traditions have differing views on. Abortion has been legal in Britain since 1967, where it was allowed up until 28 weeks. In 1990 the law was passed to allow a pregnancy to be terminated right up until the 24th week. In Northern Ireland there were 1295 abortions in 2006, most of which were for people aged 20-24 this is a very high figure. (Although abortion is illegal in Northern Ireland 1295 people went to England for abortions in 2006. Most were aged between 20 and 24). There are two view points on abortion- Pro-Life and Pro-Choice. Pro-Life is generally the Christian position on abortion. Christians believe in the sanctity of life- all life is created by God and is special
