Explain the beliefs Christians hold about their responsibility for the unborn child Christians believe that life comes from God, and therefore it is sacred and should be preserved. These beliefs are firstly evident in the text of the Old Testament: "Made in the image of God, God breathed life into all living things." Genesis This explains that from the moment of conception (new life), the unborn child is in the image of God, and should be treated equally and the same who is alive and outside the protection of the mother's womb. "You shall not kill" Exodus This reference from Exodus is self-explanatory and means that a human being should not be killed under any circumstances or at any stage of life whether inside or outside the womb.
