Abortion Describe Christian teaching about abortion. Some church fathers thought that abortion was allowed up to 40 days after conception because it is believed that in this time, the unborn baby received its soul. Different churches have different views about abortion. Roman Catholics believe it is wrong to kill an unborn child, at whatever stage it is in, because it is a sacred human life, which deserves to be treated with the same respect as any other human being. Even if you were pregnant as a result of rape the Roman Catholics would not support abortion, because the foetus should not feel the consequences for someone else's crime.
