... Question 1 In the Gurdwara, there are five main features. There is the Langar, Divan Hall, Sach Khand, Nishan Sahib and the Guru Granth Sahib. This question will be describing and explaining each of these features in detail throughout this question. After every service, Sikhs come to the Langar where a free vegetarian meal has been prepared for everybody. Sharing food is important, as the Gurus taught that all Sikhs should share their possessions. The food served in the Langar must be simple, so as to prevent wealthy congregations turning it into a feast that shows off their superiority. Although Sikhs are not required to be vegetarian, only vegetarian food is served in the Gurdwara. This ensures that any visitor to the Gurdwara, whatever the dietary restrictions of their faith, can eat in the Langar. The Diwan Hall is the hall in which the Guru Granth Sahib is present.
