Mark's gospel can tell Christians about the nature of discipleship The study of St Mark's gospel can tell Christians many things about the nature and importance of discipleship, for example what it means to be a disciple, the costs of being a disciple and the rewards of being a disciple. When Jesus first saw his disciples fishing by the see of Galilee, he called to Simon and his brother Andrew, "come, follow me, I will make you fishers of men". Immediately they dropped everything and left their families and jobs to follow Jesus without question or debate. Also Jesus called to James and John (Sons of Zebedee) and without delay they left their father and gave up their life to follow Jesus.
