In the Christian community, by being baptised, we get closer to God, to his endless love and great power and we also become the members of the Catholic Church. This means that we become brothers and sisters of Jesus and therefore children of God. Baptism is a new birth into a greater life, the life of God himself. In the baptism the person who is going to be baptized and his/her accompanies (parents and godparents) are welcomed at the church's door by the priest. The idea of welcome to the Christian community is highlighted. Priest welcomes the candidate on behalf of the Christian Community.
