Select and explain the main features of infant and believers baptism. The word 'baptism' comes from a Greek word meaning to 'plunge' or to 'immerse'. In St. Mark's Gospel, Jesus was baptised in the river Jordan by his cousin, John the Baptist. John had previously announced to the people waiting to be baptised by him that '"The man who will come after me is much greater than I am. I am not good enough even to bend down and untie his sandals.'" (Mark 1:7), and so he was surprised when Jesus asked to be baptised by him as he thought of himself as not worthy and had felt that Jesus should have been the one baptising him.
