The parents make the choice to baptise the child on the child's behalf so they promise to raise the child with Christian values and morels. But later on in life when the child becomes a teenager they are asked to back their baptism up with their own personal commitment to the church and to God by been Confirmed. Believer's baptism is for those able to show a personal commitment to Christ. Some Christians do not accept infant baptism for example Baptists, Pentecostals, Evangelicals and the Brethren. Those old enough can be baptised, however some of these churches have infant dedication instead of infant baptism.
