... James Cross 10s 09/03/02 Believers Baptism Believers Baptism only occurs in non-liturgical churches, i.e. the Baptist and Pentecostal church. The candidates have to understand that they are all sinners (original sin), and that they must confess this sin, and believe that Jesus' death on the Cross will forgive original sin, and unite them once more with God. Believers Baptism highly emphasises that the candidates must understand all the reasons they are being baptised. The actual baptism would take place, normally after a Sunday service, because in the Bible it states that the service has to be witnessed before a congregation. There may be prayers or hymns on the themes Sin, Forgiveness, Jesus as the Saviour, or the Holy Spirit, and a Bible reading on either Jesus' baptism or on the Pentecost. The candidate may then be asked to give a testimony, where he or she explains why they are sinners, and why
