Have a little read: ... Baptism This introduction is to give a brief understanding of my coursework and how it is to help understand the many different types of baptisms and all the differences and similarities in each of these baptisms. Since the New Testament, the Catholic Church has always understood baptism differently, teaching that it is a sacrament which accomplishes several things, the first which is the remission of sin, both original sin and actual sin-only original sin in the case of infants and young children, since they are incapable of actual sin; and both original and actual sin in the case of older people. In the Orthodox Church at an Infant baptism and confirmation follow one another in the same service, in the Orthodox service it is called cremation; the service begins with a prayer that the child may pray. The child's clothes are then removed to symbolise the leaving behind of the old life with
