Discuss how the different world religions use their scriptures different to Buddhists? The main difference between Buddhists use of texts and other world religions is that Buddhists use their scriptures to eventually achieve enlightenment. They believe that the study of their scriptures and devotion to them will bring enlightenment and end to suffering. This differs drastically to what most religions expect the texts to do for them. For Jews the Torah primarily and essentially sets out the relationship between god and man, and shows them to be gods chosen people. And the out come for them is salvation to bring them closer to god. Which is similar to the idea which Christians have, they believe that the use of their text will bring them closer to god and allow them into heaven when they die. Most Buddhists rely on monks to tell them the essence of the main scriptures in accessible...
