Buddhists take their teachings and beliefs very seriously, this means that something so small as dropping a piece of litter is not allowed in the Buddhists religion. Many of the teachings state that they should respect and look after the environment, this way they gain good karma and keep the environment clean and healthy. All living things have a rite to live, if Buddhists do good things they get good karma and go to Nirvana, this is the definition of karma. To be a good Buddhist and gain enlightenment a Buddhist should follow the eight fold path, e.g. ' Right Action' this means that harming any living being or any living thing is not allowed.
