What is Buddhism?
Buddhism is an ancient practice formed in India and based on the teachings of Buddha.Those who follow the philosophies behind Buddhism are known as Buddhists. Mediation is a common Buddhist practice.
Buddhists believe in four truths, known as the noble trusts. These truths discuss suffering, pleasure seeking and enlightenment.
Buddhists also believe in karma and what is known as the five precepts or everyday life. The precepts are similar to commandments.
The Dalai Lama is the name for the lineage of Tibetan Buddhist religious leaders.
Why Study Buddhism?
Buddhism is based on peaceful teachings and is quickly becoming one of the most popular religions in the world.
The Dalai Lama frequently travels the world promoting Buddhist beliefs and traditions. The Dalai Lama's visits often attract media attention.
