A CASE STUDY ON: JOE ROBLES ETHICS OF INSIDER TRADING I. Background of the Case Joe Robles worked with Progress Bank, a medium sized bank in the Philippines. He is a member of its Executive Committee and because this, he is privy to confidential information from the bank's clients. On January 1996, in one of the Executive Committee meetings, he got hold of the Credit-Facilities-Request (CFR) Document of Excelsior Property Group. CFR's showed clients outstanding requests and contained complete and extensive information about it, such as plans for the future and financial statement projections. In this particular CRF, Excelsior, a fairly large but publicly unlisted property group, plans to buy control of Star Gold, a publicly listed but relatively declining mining company, by April.
