Psychology conformity Conformity is the process of yielding to majority influence and group pressures something that most of us do at some point in our lives. This is defined by David Myers as 'change in behaviour or belief as a result of real or imagined group pressure.' although us humans see ourselves as autonomous individuals we never the less go along with the norm. Minority influence is the opposite of conforming to the majority can be defined as a form of social influence where a minority exerts pressure to change the attitudes of the majority. There are many cases where small minorities have influenced majority opinions. Obedience is compliance with an order issued by an authority figure.
