As Dennis Kavanagh puts it "Elections lie at the heart of the Democratic process." In other words, Elections are the basis of every country deemed to be a democracy. Many different systems are in use. First-Past-The-Post is the system that is pioneered by Britain and also used in America, while different variations of Proportional Representation (or PR) are used in most of the European countries. There has now become an increasing amount of support for Britain to change its system to that of PR, and I will be discussing alternatives to FPTP, as well as disadvantages and advantages for each.
