Why were the 1945 and 1979 General elections important? Britain has seen a lot of elections since the establishment of the parliament in 1802.To be precise there has been 53 General elections, every single one has its own importance to the history of the UK, however some turned out to be more significant that others. Can General Elections and the party elected change the whole country? Which parties happen to have done it in the past and what effect did it have on the United Kingdom. In my essay I would like to look into 2 General Elections, the ones which took place in years 1945 and 1979. Over the Second World War, the 1945 General elections were the first to be held since 1935. The outcome was absolutely unpredicted; however, it showed the electors' faith in that the Labour Party could better rebuild the country after the war. ...
