The Constitution Party In 1992 several State Parties united to establish the U.S. Taxpayers Party. Only seven short years later this party transformed itself into what we know today as the Constitution Party. This name change and reorganization was due to the fact that convention delegates to the 1999 National Convention theorized the new name better represented the party's primary policies of defending the U.S. Constitution. As the fifth political party to be formally recognized nationally by the Federal Election Commission, the U.S. Constitution Party claims to be growing stronger than ever. They say the future of the nation hangs in the balance unless we become involved with them.i Their platform is very matter-of-fact and elementary.
